It was during the confinement that Mariana Figueiredo began to wonder about her professional future. "For some time now, I had wanted to see a sustainable project that would have a positive impact on the environment and society," she explains. She then remembers the beautiful carpets of her childhood, handmade in the north of Portugal. In the summer of 2020, she launched Nunamae, a brand of recycled cotton rugs made by Portuguese artisans. Right from the start, it was a success.

 Beautiful, eco-friendly carpets

"These carpets are particularly beautiful," he says. "They are also incredibly soft and welcoming. It's a real pleasure to walk on them barefoot," adds Mariana Figueiredo. The founder of Nunamae was keen to highlight the ancestral know-how of a dozen craftsmen from the Douro region, who work on old wooden looms. "With the creation of Nunamae, I am proud to contribute to preserving jobs and to properly remunerate those who make these rugs," she explains.
